Laurent-Perrier makes vintage Champagne from only the finest grapes of the best harvest years. The 1997 harvest began with artic temperatures that were followed by Spring frosts, then by a series of storms that included hail. However, good conditions at flowering and a very hot month of August were most beneficial, producing high sugar levels together with concentrated acidity. The elegant finesse of this vintage allows it to join that very selective list of those produced by Laurent-Perrier.
A deep golden-yellow hue, displaying a steady stream of fine tiny bubbles.
Stylish aromas of citrus fruit (grapefruit), ripe white fruit (peaches) and preserved fruit (oranges).
Both fine and rounded in its flavors, the palate shows preserved orange peel and a vanilla-like finish. The texture is silky and very fine, with lingering crispness.
Serve between 46ºF and 50ºF.
It pairs exceptionally well with fish and seafood dishes in white sauce. Its fine lingering flavors also give it the capacity to accompany poultry and white meat or a typical potée (stew).
Chardonnay (45%), Pinot Noir (55%)
Grapes were harvested from the most prestigious growths from the Montage de Reims; Bouzy, Verzy, Verzenay and from the Côte des Blancs; le Mesnil, Cramant, Oger, and Chouilly.
Laurent-Perrier makes vintage Champagne only in the very best years, when the characteristics of the harvest create a wine that is in keeping with a style and quality that merits the Laurent-Perrier signature. Vintage Champagnes from Laurent-Perrier are rare because the majority of vintage year grapes are used in the House's multi-vintage wines. In order for Laurent-Perrier to produce vintage Champagne, they not only need superior grapes, but an abundance of them.
Brut Millésimé is composed of roughly equal parts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir - though the exact amounts vary depending on the characteristics of each vintage - and has considerable cellaring capacity. Brut Millésimé is made exclusively from wines of the very best crus or villages. Historically, most of these crus have formed the basis of Laurent-Perrier’s Champagnes. The most prestigious among them are: Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, Cramant, Chouilly, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Louvois. Aging in our cellars lasts for at least six years and very light dosage is used to allow the wine to reveal its true nature.
